Background

Sonning Mill Theatre is located on the B478 at Sonning Eye, where it crosses the river Thames. The site houses a number of buildings the most prominent of which is a listed water mill. The mill closed in 1969 and remained empty until 1977 when it was adapted to house the theatre. The theatre owners approached OSG to provide design proposals that would allow some of the existing buildings on the site to be converted into residential apartments in order to create revenue, which would in turn allow the main theatre to be refurbished and maintained.
