sustainability
A key aspect of the project was the integration of sustainable features. Working in tandem with engineering partner Fairhurst, the team implemented innovative solutions to manage surface water run-off effectively. This included the creation of attenuation holding areas in the form of two ponds, strategically positioned to mitigate peak-time water flow before directing it into nearby watercourses.
Working with SEA, we helped to deliver a highly energy efficient scheme utilising a fabric first approach combined with heat recovery systems installed as part of the heating system. This will allow residents to benefit from reduced energy bills by reclaiming and reusing heat for hot water and space heating.
affordability and accessibility
The project's overarching goal was to deliver 100% affordable housing, addressing the pressing need for accessible accommodation in the region. All new homes were made available for either Shared Ownership or Social Rent, ensuring inclusivity and affordability for a diverse range of residents. This initiative reflects Orbit's dedication to providing high-quality, affordable housing solutions, with a proven track record of successful developments across Kent.
