We are extremely proud to announce that Ben has officially become a fully qualified Architect and has joined the ranks of RIBA architects at OSG.
Joining OSG 7 years ago, Ben's journey has been marked by dedication and perseverance, hard work and passion as he progressed through the PGDip Architect (Level 7) Apprenticeship.
Balancing his studies at London South Bank University, the apprenticeship pathway, and working at OSG - Ben completed his Part II Masters in Architecture, and later earned his Part III Postgraduate Diploma in Architectural Practice. Ben’s commitment to both his education, the apprenticeship, and his role at OSG has been commendable.
Ben's Part II Work
The MArch course provided a vast array of topics and projects, each with a different focus on the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours of the role of an Architect.
The final design project centred on the principles of ‘Up-Cycling’, specifically the transformation of the long-vacant former London City Hall in Southwark. The £43 million, purpose-built landmark was plagued with architectural issues through the only 20-year tenancy of the Greater London Authority, raising questions about the high-level approach in the Architecture industry to these building typologies and briefs.
Ben’s project focused on a move away from the ‘sterility’ of the city, to create a community asset that encourages the individual to ‘stay’ and contribute to their local environment, through shared resource and upcycling assets already available.
The ethos was directed by materiality, re-introducing nature, and re-defining the city to meet the realisations changing work attitudes and approaches of contemporary office working - off the back of the 2020 pandemic.
This scheme looked to create a ‘resource library’ of accessible workspaces, to build community and move away from bespoke architecture serving only short-term needs at a great financial and legacy cost, and instead creating a framework that supports and encourages growth, responding to ever changing need – an issue faced in cities across the world.
Now, as a fully qualified architect, Ben continues to approach his role with unwavering dedication. His talent and commitment make him a valued member of our team.
"I’m very thankful for the experience I’ve received at OSG, and now look forward to the opportunity to refine my personal approach and the opportunity to make a positive lasting impact on the wider world”
We are very proud of Ben's achievements and look forward to supporting his continued growth and career at OSG. Congratulations, Ben!
